The Jaguar I-Pace is an electric SUV produced by automotive company Jaguar Land Rover under their Jaguar brand name. It was first released in 2018.

We reviewed the Jaguar I-Pace in 2018 when it was released.
First and foremost, the Jaguar I-PACE is an amazing car and embodies everything great about the promise of electric powertrains. It friggen flies off the line on the track, can torque up 45 degree dirt roads from a stop, and most importantly feels great on the open road and city streets: quiet and smooth with understated power. It is luxury, sport and practicality all in one.
It is also a Jaguar. It looks beautiful inside and out with quality components and a unique design. And most of all, Jaguar should be applauded for bringing this car to market before competitors Audi and Porsche bring their e-Tron and Taycan.
But in all the rush to compare the I-PACE to the few premium electric vehicles on the road today, the inevitable “Tesla Model X Killer” moniker keeps coming up. While its 240-mile 400HP AWD electric drivetrain certainly screams SUV, its actual body shape, internal space and ride make it feel more like a sedan.
If anything, it feels closest to a Tesla Model 3 inside, especially with its glass roof, but that’s beyond a stretch. Jaguar has beautiful and tasteful buttons, knobs and a small screen while Tesla’s spartan interior UI is simply a large touch screen with two simple knobs on the steering wheel.

In 2019, we were able to review the newest model as well. In his review, Fred was also generally positive about the car.
There’s a lot to like about the I-Pace. I think it’s one of the best-looking vehicles out there period. It is super fast and responsive and handles like a dream.
The range is going to be good enough for most people, especially if you plan to use it to get around a city, but I think it would be hard to take the vehicle on a road trip that requires more than two full charges at least until the non-Tesla charging infrastructure with over 100 kW of capacity becomes more extensive.
It’s starting to be the case in Europe but less so in the US, and I think that will be reflected in the sales of the I-Pace – though the US could eventually catch up with a few new networks coming up.
I think the I-Pace would make a great family vehicle as long as you are not expecting the space of a full-size SUV.
But that’s all if Jaguar can fix its user interface, which was a real pain to deal with, and hopefully, they can use the vehicle’s over-the-air software capability to fix some of that.

In 2020, it was announced that production had paused due to battery shortages.
Jaguar has been trying to secure more battery capacity, but it’s been slow-going. They reportedly signed a deal for cylindrical cells with Samsung SDI in 2018, though they use LG pouch cells for the I-Pace.
In December of 2019, Jaguar pushed a software update that improved the car’s range by 8%.
