Jaguar Land Rover announced today a new global strategy called “Reimagine,” and it involves a serious acceleration of the electrification of all its brands, including Jaguar going all-electric by 2025 and Land Rover following with mostly electric vehicles after that.

It’s been two years since Jaguar Land Rover introduced the I-Pace EV. Despite earning multiple design awards and decent sales in Europe, the electric Jaguar crossover has struggled in the US. The company also faced battery-supply issues. Joe Eberhardt, Jaguar Land Rover’s North American CEO, wants to use lessons from the I-Pace and apply it to new EVs, including the upcoming electric XJ sedan. But the path forward is not clear.

Jaguar Land Rover is showcasing 3 new vehicle platforms for the Concept_e research at the CENEX Low Carbon Vehicle event which runs this week in the UK. The Concept_e platforms are coming out of a $25 million advanced powertrain research program partly backed by the UK government.
The concept platforms are intended for future generations vehicles and the company currently doesn’t have any plan to implement them in its lineup. Expand
