Ford bolsters F-150 Lightning XLT production – a truck ordered today can be yours by September

Ford Motor Co. has shared an update on its journey to scale production of its super popular, all-electric F-150 Lightning in order to reduce customer wait times. The American automaker has bolstered production of its XLT trim, in particular, and is limiting new reservation wait times down under four months.

Ford F-150 Lightning finally joins European market, beginning sales in EV-centric Norway

Citing a massive consumer demand overseas, Ford is expanding its ultra-popular F-150 Lightning to markets outside the US for the first time, beginning in Norway. Ford says it will kick off its entry to Europe with a limited number of F-150 Lightning Lariat Launch Editions, equipped to handle Norway’s snowy terrain, as you’ll see in the images and video below.

Ford identifies cause of F-150 Lightning battery issue, production restarts in ‘a few weeks’ (updated)

Ford has issued a nationwide “stop shipment” order to all its carriers, instructing them to hold F-150 Lightnings while a potential battery issue is investigated. Ford is not aware of any incidences of the issue in the field and has not stopped sales of the Lightning, only shipments. It has also paused production while the issue is investigated.

Update: Ford has identified what they believe to be the cause of the issue, and expects to have production started in “a few weeks” and that they do not think already-delivered customer vehicles are affected.

Magna to expand five facilities plus a new battery enclosure plant to support F-150 Lightning

Contract manufacturer Magna International shared plans to invest over $470 million to expand its existing operations across Ontario, Canada, expecting to create over 1,000 new jobs. In addition to the expansion of five of its current facilities in Canada, Magna will lease a battery enclosure plant to support the production of the Ford F-150 Lightning and future EVs from other OEMS.
