Expand Expanding CloseScott Keogh, CEO of VW of America, said this month that the ID CROZZ will sell in the low- to mid-$30,000 range after a $7,500 federal tax credit. That suggests a pre-incentive sticker price of around $40,000 for the brand’s first high-volume, ground-up EV sold in the US. Keogh, who spoke with Automotive News at the LA Auto Show, also gave hits about sales volume.
Volkswagen’s “new direction” in the US is already in full swing as the company has unleashed a blitz of ads during the past few weeks, with one constant — the ID. BUZZ electric bus, still just a concept vehicle that’s three years from production.
Volkswagen has released a new ad which directly references the company’s Dieselgate emissions scandal as it hopes to turn the page toward its coming era of electric vehicles.
Volkswagen has aggressive electric vehicle plans, but it is focused on Europe and China where the German automaker sees regulations pushing for quicker adoption of electric vehicles.
Yet, the automaker has now confirmed plans to produce its upcoming all-electric microbus and crossover in the US. Expand

VW kicked things off at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this week with a new all-electric and autonomous microbus concept: I.D. BUZZ.
The vehicle is a significant step up from the previous BUDD-e electric microbus concept and actually looks like a more modern version of the classic VW microbus. It is, of course, updated with all the latest tech and more importantly, an all-electric drivetrain using Volkswagen’s upcoming MEB platform for electric vehicles. Expand
