Hyundai taps Samsung to help EV owners save time and money with connected services

Hyundai and Kia are teaming up with Samsung to save EV owners time and money through connected car and home services. Through a new agreement, Hyundai (and Kia) will use Samsung’s “SmartThings” IoT platform in their connected car services. This way, you can control home devices like air conditioning and lights directly from your car. Or, from home, you can warm your vehicle and adjust charging times.

During a “Uni Wheel Tech Day” event held in Seoul earlier today, Hyundai Motor and Kia Corporation presented a potentially game-changing approach to the design of an EV’s drivetrain. The Universal Wheel Drive system, or “Uni Wheel” for short, moves main components to the wheel hub, creating additional space in a given vehicle’s interior. Learn more in the video below.

The Hyundai Motor Group revealed during its 2023 annual investor day on Tuesday that it would accelerate its transition to electric cars. With an injection of new funds dedicated to EV and battery development, Hyundai is raising its annual EV sales goal to two million by 2030, aiming for over 10% profit margins.
