Tesla hides Xmas-themed Easter Egg in its latest update – Model X light show has finally arrived (Updated: Elon)

For Tesla Model X owners, the Mars/SpaceX-themed Easter Egg wasn’t the only hidden feature in the latest update that the automaker started to push this week. For Christmas last year, Tesla programmed the lights and Falcon Wing doors on three Model Xs to do a light show to the sound of the Wizards in Winter by Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

At the time, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the program will be an Easter Egg in the Model X, but it was never there until this week’s update.

Tesla has hidden some pretty cool Easter Eggs in its software before – from changing your Model S into a James Bond amphibian car to a Mario Kart animation on Autopilot – but the latest Easter Egg on the update Tesla started pushing today is from another planet…. literally.

CEO Elon Musk added an Easter Egg to jokingly ship your car to Mars on SpaceX’s Interplanetary Transport System (ITS) – something Musk revealed in September as part of his plans to colonize Mars.

Tesla hid some pretty fun easter eggs in its vehicles over the years, including a Mario Kart animation and a James Bond amphibian car, but none of them actually delivered more performance to its vehicles.

CEO Elon Musk is now hinting that Tesla’s next easter egg will “uncorks the full performance” of the recently released Tesla Model S and X P100D Ludicrous.
