Tesla avoids German union at advanced automation group, agrees to salary increase

The German union IG Metall tried to get into Grohmann Engineering after Tesla acquired the company for “about $150 million” and turned it into ‘Tesla Advanced Automation Group’ last year.

Tesla strongly opposed the union push and instead tried to negotiate directly with its own workers. Now the company has reportedly come to terms with employees and agreed to an important salary increase.

Tesla breaks down its $135 million acquisition of Grohmann Engineering in new filing

In a SEC filing in March, Tesla confirmed that it closed the acquisition of Grohmann Engineering for “approximately $150 million”, but the company didn’t explain how they came up with the number for the relatively small engineering firm in Germany.

In a new filing today, the company broke down the acquisition in details to explain the value of the company, which has now become ‘Tesla Advanced Automation Group’.

BMW and VW wants Tesla’s Advanced Automation group to fulfill Grohmann’s contracts

As we recently reported, the labor situation at Tesla Advanced Automation Group, formerly Grohmann Engineering, has been improving since CEO Elon Musk sent a letter to employees in which he made several promises.

But now BMW and VW, two former clients of Grohmann Engineering, are starting a dispute of Tesla’s recent cancellation of the engineering contracts between the companies.
