Tesla announced today that Jerome Guillen, president of automotive, will transition to a new role focusing on heavy trucking at the automaker.

As we reported yesterday, the news that Tesla is developing a semi truck set to be unveiled next year is probably the biggest surprise to come out of Elon Musk’s ‘Master Plan Part 2’.
When reading the plan and despite containing little details about the new division, I was already pretty excited at the prospect of an electric Tesla truck, but now that Musk confirmed that Jerome Guillen is in charge of the program, which he dubbed ‘Tesla Semi’, I’m even more excited. Expand

Tesla is on-going some restructuring at the upper management level over the past few months, especially since long-time executive and Vice-President of Worldwide Sales & Services Jerome Guillen took a leave of absence last year, followed by Chief Financial Officer Deepak Ahuja’s retirement a few months later.
The automaker has since hired former Enservio CEO Jon McNeill as President Global Sales & Service and former Google VP of Finance Jason Wheeler as Chief Financial Officer.

Earlier this year after reducing the responsibilities of Jerome Guillen, Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Service, Tesla decided to hire chiefs of sales for each region they operate in: North America, Europe and Asia. According to Europe Auto News, Tesla appointed its current head in Switzerland, Jochen Rudat, to lead sales in Germany. Expand

In Tesla’s recently published 10Q SEC filing, the company confirmed that Jerome Guillen, Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Service, will be taking a leave of absence until December 31, 2015. Guillen has seen his responsibilities reduced earlier this year when Tesla decided to hire chiefs of sales for each region they operate in: North America, Europe and Asia. Expand
