Tesla owners gathered at Club Leadership Summit for annual meeting

Tesla benefits from some of the most hardcore fans and owners in the world, some of whom act as evangelists for the brand.

Now, those owners have gathered at Tesla’s Club Leadership Summit for their annual meeting.

The automaker has long had informal ‘owner clubs’ around the world.

Last year however, it created a program to officially recognize clubs, and last week, 36 Tesla owners club leaders from 9 countries convened in Fremont, CA for the summit.

Denver Tesla Club President Sean M Mitchell said in a statement sent to Electrek that owners at the meeting “strategized, and planed for how clubs can continue to support Tesla owners across the globe.”

He said about the clubs:

“Tesla Club Owners are officially recognized by Tesla and have ongoing communication with Tesla representatives with the intent of enhancing the owner experience. Collectively, there are 60 officially recognized clubs in 17 countries and more than 28,000 members.”

Mitchell sent us a few images from the summit:

We previously reported on a few very cool initiatives led by Tesla Owners’ Clubs around the world.

Like when Tesla owners took over Silverstone to give ‘10,000 test rides’ to showcase electric vehicles, or when Tesla owners teamed up to create a charging network in Australia.

Electrek’s Take

I think Tesla’s fans, owners or not, represent one of the company’s greatest assets.

They not only share a great appreciation for Tesla’s products, but they also share Tesla’s mission.

Tesla recognized that and it took advantage of it quite efficiently. Those owners’ clubs are a great example, but the referral program is, of course, the biggest example.

It’s also a way to giveback to owners for their efforts.

Now with the Model 3 being available and accessible at a lower price to more people, I think we are going to see word of mouth from owners becoming even more important.

I have had my Model 3 for just a month, and I haven’t had much time to take it around town much and have my friends test it, nonetheless I think I’ve sold five of them already.

I think many owners have similar stories.
