Watch Audi make the tires of its new all-electric e-tron Quattro screech on the Nürburgring track

The Audi quattro all-electric SUV is expected to be one of the first vehicles to launch in the electric push from German automakers that is starting this year.

The four-ring brand has yet to unveil the production version of the vehicle despite its imminent launch, but now we see one of their pre-production prototypes being pushed hard on the Nürburgring race track.

Audi says that the e-tron quattro has “310 miles of range” on a 95 kWh battery pack, but Audi announced that range when using NEDC ratings for electric vehicle range and hasn’t updated it yet. Therefore, real-world range or the EPA estimate should be closer to ~275 miles.

The all-electric SUV is also equipped with 3 electric motors for a total output of 320 kW and it is capable of DC fast-charging up to 150 kW.

They haven’t confirmed any performance specs yet, but it is expected to be quite quick with great torque vectoring due to its three independent motors.

During the recent Industry Pool at the Nürburgring track, Automotive Mike on Youtube got a few good minutes of footage of Audi testing that electric powertrain:

The car is set to enter production at Audi’s carbon-neutral plant in Brussels in the next few months in order for deliveries to start in European markets at “the end of 2018.”

Last month, Audi said that the all-electric e-tron Quattro SUV will be ‘starting at ‘€80,000’ in Germany -(~€67,000 before VAT – or ~$83,000 USD).

Audi already started taking reservations in some markets and claims thousands of reservations in Norway, where automakers have been quick to try to lock in the demand as several new luxury electric SUVs are expected to launch in the market over the next two years.
