Elon Musk talks upcoming Tesla updates and features in latest Tweetstorm

Tesla CEO Elon Musk went on another one of his Tweetstorms today and albeit a smaller one, we got some new insights into Tesla’s upcoming new updates and features.

We already reported on Musk confirming that the Tesla pickup truck is coming ‘right after Model Y’, but he actually started tweeting again about an hour later and revealed a few other things.

First off, he started out thanking Tesla owners worldwide, which is something he often does around this time of the year:

Musk often talked about how Roadster owners helped Tesla launched Model S and Model X – then how S/X owners helped launch Model 3 and so on.

His request for potential improvements led to a ton of suggestions and he responded to a few.

Unsurprisingly, delays in the rollout of Autopilot 2.0 features came up. Musk again hyped the potential of Tesla’s neural net, but he didn’t offer an updated timeline now that most features enabled by AP2 hardware are roughly a year late at this point:

As for smaller convenience features, Musk told Dustin Moskovitz, Facebook co-founder, that Tesla would work on Bluetooth auto-connect so it doesn’t pick up the signal when no one is in the vehicle:

Following the recent updates for cold weather, like no limit pre-heating and battery preconditioning, Musk now says that the ability to activate windshield, back window, seats, and steering wheel heating from the mobile app “should be” in the next update:

Musk is apparently on board for all those suggestions from Twitter user MCFlashTube – though most of them were already announced:

All the Autopilot-related features have been in the works – even the ability to use the Autopilot cameras as dashcams.

The CEO also reiterated that Tesla is working on an internet browser – something that was first supposed to launch last year, but it apparently has been more difficult than anticipated:

Finally, he agreed to a feature to alert family members of a Tesla owner’s arrival when selecting “home” as a destination in the navigation system:

All those comments follow Musk teasing an upcoming major overhaul of Tesla’s maps and navigation system and several more updates.
