Renault unveils limited edition ‘ZOE STAR WARS’ electric car

Renault and Nissan have a long-standing marketing partnership with Star Wars and with the release of the latest movie this week, Renault is unveiling a new limited edition ‘ZOE STAR WARS’ electric car, which they actually plan to sell.

Their previous collaborations were mostly limited to commercials and promotional stunts, but now it is resulting in an actual product – albeit only slightly updated from the regular Zoe.

Renault describes the vehicle:

“Echoing the futuristic world of the Jedi, ZOE STAR WARS is set to join the interplanetary fleet. The show begins with the car’s exterior which features decals inspired by the world of STAR WARS™ in general, and Han Solo’s celebrated Millennium Falcon star ship in particular, for the bonnet, roof and boot. Specific badging and door sills add to the new limited-edition ZOE’s unique appeal.”

Here are a few images:

The interior also features some new design accents, like “an unprecedented purple hue for the dashboard trim strip, air vent surrounds, speakers, gearshift base and carpet mat borders.”

Pre-orders are starting this week and they plan to make 1,000 of them for the French market only.

Electrek’s Take

I generally find Renault-Nissan’s Star Wars ads inefficient, but since this is an actual product available for sale, it’s a little more interesting.

It could maybe get some Star Wars superfans into electric vehicle ownership. Who knows?

Either way, they don’t really need it to sell the Zoe. We reported earlier this that the vehicle is still dominating EV sales in several markets, especially its home market in France.

But if Renault wants to make a special edition of the Zoe, they should make the Zoe e-Sport RS Concept, a sexy sports version of the all-electric Zoe.
