Experience Tesla Model S through the eyes of a 97-year-old grandfather

The Tesla Model S is arguably the most advanced and futuristic-looking car in production today. Its 17-inch touchscreen and Autopilot features can impress even the most tech savvy millennials, but now imagine experiencing the vehicle as a person in their nineties.

No need to since Model S owner Zev Carmi made an interesting video of him introducing his 97-year-old grandfather to the Model S and electric cars in general.

It’s interesting on a few levels, but probably the most important is that Zev’s grandfather unfamiliarity with electric vehicles is not uncommon, it’s actually the norm.

He is surprised at the range and charging capacity of the car and that’s not unusual. As we previously reported, the lack of awareness is surprisingly still the biggest problem for electric vehicle adoption.

The general public simply doesn’t know enough about them and how far they have progressed over the past few years. It explains why Zev’s grandfather describes his ride in the Model S as experiencing the future even though it’s actually the present.

Here’s the video:

Interestingly, electric cars were more prominent than they are today in term of market shares in the auto industry when Zev’s grandfather was a child. During the turn of the 20th century, electric cars were holding about 30% of the automotive market.

The petrol boom and the expansion of road infrastructure put a lot of pressure of electric cars and they virtually disappeared from the mainstream for most of the life of Zev’s grandfather.

Now they are back and people need to know about it.
