Most Tesla Model 3 vehicles being delivered today are owned by Tesla employees and we haven’t heard much about their experience yet, but a few investors have also already received their vehicle.
We already got a few interesting details thanks to Tesla board member Steve Jurvetson and now early Tesla investor Jason Calacanis shares his experience on CNBC after taking delivery of his Model 3.
Calacanis owned early versions, sometimes referred to as “Founders Series”, of each of Tesla’s vehicles from the Roadster to now Model 3.
In an interview with CNBC yesterday, he gave his impression on the latest addition to his Tesla stable and it was full of analogies.
The investor compared it to the iPhone, a burger, and a Porsche. He said:
“Let me just say “yum, yum.” It’s a yum, yum, yum – yum, yum. There it is – one of the Founder series. I have been driving it and it drives like Porsche, but it cost the same as a Prius.”
Yep, that’s an early review of the Tesla Model 3 from an actual owner.
With my short time driving the car last month, I can’t exactly say that it drives like a Porsche, but it certainly drives more like a Porsche than a Prius. I’ll give him that. The Model 3 is also a little more expensive than a Prius – at least before EV incentives.

They couldn’t stop the interview fast enough once he started talking about Trump blowing up half the planet, which he seems to think is the only thing that could stop Tesla and Elon Musk?
Calacanis went with a red Model 3 with the 19″ Sport wheels. He shared a few pictures on Twitter:
