Faraday Future showcases the all-electric FF91’s dynamic vehicle control, says will test them at Pikes Peak

While Faraday Future’s future is unclear as it attempts to raise a significant round of financing after its main backer, Jia Yueting from LeEco, is having liquidity issues, the FF91, the company’s first production-intent vehicle, is still very real and going through its test program.

This week, the electric car started showcased its dynamic vehicle control and announced that it will test it at the upcoming Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

The Pikes Peak track measures 12.42 miles (19.99 km) with over 156 turns, climbing 4,720 ft (1,440 m) from the start at Mile 7 on Pikes Peak Highway, to the finish at 14,110 ft (4,300 m), on grades averaging 7.2%.

Last year, a stripped-down Tesla Model S set a new record for a production electric vehicle with a 11:48 run.

Faraday Future will be looking to beat that.

Nick Sampson, Senior Vice President of Research and Development, commented on the announcement:

“The hill climb on Pikes Peak serves as the ideal setting to further develop the electric propulsion system and supporting thermal systems of FF 91. Testing the performance of FF 91 in real-world conditions sets the bar even higher as we bring the vehicle to market in 2018.”

They will be using “a Beta development vehicle using production representative hardware and software with tweaks required to run at Pikes Peak.”

For the occasion, they started producing videos about how they are getting the vehicle ready for Pikes Peak. The first one in the series is about FF91’s dynamic vehicle control:
