NextEV’s upcoming all-electric 1 MW supercar spotted on Nürburgring racetrack

After a concept drawing of the car leaked last month, we now get our first look at the real thing. NextEV’s upcoming all-electric 1 MW supercar was spotted today on the Nürburgring racetrack in Germany.

In the very short video, we catch a glimpse of the car as the electric vehicle startup appears to be filming some promotional footage for the upcoming launch.

As we reported last month, NextEV’s first car is expected to be a limited-production ~$1 million supercar to compete with the likes of the all-electric Rimac Concept_One and its gas-powered counterparts.

The vehicle will serve as a test-bed for the company’s electric vehicle technology, which it will then leverage to release mass market and less expensive models.

In the meantime, we will get to see this 1 MW electric racing machine built through NextEV’s knowledge acquired through its participation in the Formula E.

The vehicle is expected to be officially unveiled in the coming weeks and to become available shortly after.

A NextEV representative refused to comment on the video.

NextEV is funded by Chinese investors, but it has a significant presence in the US led by former Cisco and Motorola CTO, Padmasree Warrior. They recently inaugurated their US headquarters and we reported today on the hiring of Jamie Carlson, a veteran firmware engineer and early member of the Tesla Autopilot team, as Senior Director of Advanced Technologies.

While its supercar doesn’t seem to be equipped with advanced sensors for autonomous driving, which is not really something you want out of a supercar anyway, the company is heavily investing in the technology for its mass-market vehicles.

Earlier this year, the company announced having signed a contract with the Nanjing Municipal Government in China to build a 3 billion RMB ($465 million) electric vehicle factory.
