Tesla Model S P90D with Ludicrous mode runs a quarter-mile in 10.8 seconds [Video]

After Tesla released a new version of its flagship sedan last year, the Model S P90D with Ludicrous mode, Motor Trend reported that it managed to run a quarter-mile in 10.9 seconds – making the Model S one of the rare ’10- second cars’ and probably the first production 4-door sedan to make it.

The problem is that not many Tesla owners have been able to replicate that time even almost a year after it was achieved, but it looks like that’s about to change.

As we reported in June, new Model S P90D owners started reporting much higher power outputs on their vehicles despite Tesla not having officially released any change to the Model S since the refresh front fascia in April.

Owners reported what generally represented a more than 50 additional horsepower to the Model S. Some owners reported an output of over 500 kW (~672 hp), significantly more than the 532 hp Tesla is currently advertising for the vehicle.

At the time, Tesla refused to comment on the new power capacity after Electrek reached out, but now this new power capacity appears to be translating into better performance on the drag strip.

The owner of a new Tesla Model S P90D with Ludicrous mode took his car to the Rockingham Dragstrip in North Carolina this weekend and recorded several 10-second runs, including one in just 10.8 seconds:

I think we can now safely say that the Tesla Model S P90D Ludicrous is a ’10-second car’.
