Tesla Model S driver survives spectacular collision with tractor-trailer almost crashing in a house [Images]

With Tesla’s fleet rapidly increasing in numbers, it is not too surprising to see more accidents involving its vehicles, but these days it looks like there’s one spectacular (scary) accident every week. The latest happened in Newark, Delaware this morning when a tractor-trailer flipped on its side after hitting a Tesla Model S.

A local news report describes the accident:

The crash happened around 5 a.m Saturday on the 1600 block of South College
Drive near Old Baltimore Pike.

Police say the collision involved a sedan (Model S) and a tractor-trailer.

The impact of the crash flipped the truck onto its side, causing the diesel tanks to
rupture.

The truck also struck a utility police that brought down wires, and left nearby
residents without power.

Both the Model S driver and the truck driver were taken to the hospital. They are reportedly in stable conditions. The 76-year old Model S driver was treated for chest pains at the scene.

The truck reportedly ran a red light, which resulted in the impact. Here are pictures of the aftermath:

These latest accidents are really putting Tesla’s 5-star safety rating to the test:
