Inspired by the success of Portugal’s plea for a store and service center in the country which has been answered by CEO Elon Musk (sort of), Tesla owners in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are now sending a message to the automaker and Elon to get service for their vehicles in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Like in Portugal, Model S owners in UAE have to go through a third-party or Tesla in another country in order to import the car. Tesla also doesn’t operate any service center or Supercharger in the nation or anywhere within range on a single charge.
They are some Supercharger stations in Jordan, but they are not disclosed on Tesla’s map because they seem to be operated privately at gas stations owned by the Manaseer Group
Late last year, Elon Musk confirmed that Tesla will be entering the rest of the Middle East by the end of 2016. It’s likely that the UAE, which is an extremely rich country, will be a good place to expand pre-Model 3 launch.
But Tesla has yet to announce any plan for the region and current Model S owners are growing impatient. They released this video following their first meeting at the Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi:
Earlier this year, we reported on Tesla hiring a new Vice-President of Sales for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) – hinting that the plans for an expansion in the region are being finalized.
