The Tesla owners community in Portugal held their first meeting this weekend and published a video to make a plea to Tesla to open a service center and store in the country. The owners gathered in Lisbon, from where Tesla drivers have to travel 750 miles (1,200 km) to service their vehicles to the nearest Tesla Service Center.

Tesla doesn’t directly offer any service in Portugal right now, meaning that owners had to go through Tesla in another country and then import the car in Portugal. If the car needs service, an owners would have to travel through Spain, all the way to Bordeaux or Marseille in France.

As the group described, “to own a Tesla car in Portugal is an act of madness and passion”:

“Today, with this meeting, we want to call your attention to our country: we are already many and counting, we can and we will be many more and, for that, we need a Tesla Service Center and a Tesla Store!”

Tesla plans to cover the country with Supercharger stations by the end of the year. Normally, Tesla’s retail and service presence follows not far behind its EV charging infrastructure, or often even before any Supercharger. So I don’t think Tesla owners in Portugal will have to wait much longer, but regardless, it’s a beautiful video:

Update: As a reader pointed out in the comment section below, Tesla CEO Elon Musk responded to Portugal’s plea with a simple “OK”:
