Tesla will host the ‘World Energy Innovation Forum’ at the Fremont factory this week – keynote from Elon Musk

The World Energy Innovation Forum (WEIF) managed to secure not only an impressive lineup of industry leaders to speak at the event, but also quite a venue for this year’s conference. The forum will take place Wednesday and Thursday at the Tesla Fremont Factory in Fremont, California.

The fact that Ira Ehrenpreis, WEIF’s Chairman and managing partner at DBL Partners, is on the board of Tesla probably helped to get the venue, which has been used by the organisation before – the picture above is from the 2014 forum with Elon Musk and Ira Ehrenpreis at the factory.

The forum is said to be the “who’s-who” of the energy industry and its goal is to “discuss the important energy issues and opportunities of our time”.

The keynote address will be delivered by Tesla CEO Elon Musk and the lineup of speakers includes top policymakers and industry leaders:

  • Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla Motors, SpaceX
  • Steven Chu, 12th United States Secretary of Energy
  • George Shultz, Former U.S. Secretary of State
  • Beth Comstock, Vice Chair, GE
  • Ray Mabus, Secretary of the Navy
  • Akon Singer; Founder, Akon Lighting Africa
  • Dan Arvizu, Chairman, National Science Board & Director Emeritus of the National Renewable Energy Lab
  • Ira Ehrenpreis, Managing Partner, DBL Partners; Chairman, World Energy Innovation Forum
  • Tony Fadell, Founder and CEO, Nest; SVP, Google
  • Andrés Gluski, President and CEO, AES
  • Xavier Helgesen, Co-founder and CEO, Off Grid Electric
  • John Hennessy, President, Stanford University
  • Andy Karsner, Managing Partner, The Emerson Collective
  • Susan Kennedy, Founder and CEO, Advanced Microgrid Solutions
  • Arun Majumdar, Jay Precourt Professor, Stanford Precourt Institute for Energy; Former VP Energy of Google; Founding Director ARPA-E

  • Nancy Pfund, Managing Partner, DBL Partners
  • Lyndon Rive, CEO of SolarCity
  • Kristina Skierka, Campaign Director, Power for All

While it costs $2,500 to register for the event, attendees will have the chance to tour the factory, which is generally only for Tesla owners, and they will also be able to test drive Tesla’s vehicles.
