Tesla officially unveiled the updated Model S last week, but only released a few promo shots and updated the renderings on its online design studio. Now that the new vehicle is making its way to showrooms and service centers across the world, we get to see the vehicle in more details.
Popular Tesla vlogger Bjørn Nyland found one of these vehicles and filmed a great video highlighting the new features.
Bjorn starts by trying to figure out where the front facing radar is located in the new fascia now that it is not visible. He also offers an interesting look at the new air vents and rear diffuser which underwent some modifications.
We also get a quick peek at the interior where the new center console is now standard and of course, one of the main feature of the upgraded Model S; the new LED adaptive headlights
Here’s Bjorn’s video and you will find a gallery of the main features below:

Looks like few improvements, mostly cosmetic. To make the update significant battery should have increased to 100 kWh, full set of autopilot sensors with redundancy, improved interior, with MX type ventilated seats, side pockets, etc. In this price range upgrades need to be meaningful to encourage upgrades.
What a ridiculously amateurish video. Just a total lack of preparation. At least write a script of talking points and do a few practice takes.
Bjorn is one of the most watched Tesla bloggers. Thanks to his notoriety, he has been #1 in the Tesla referral program for two quarters in a row, earning him a free Model S and a free Model X. Also, he is from Thailand and has lived in Norway for most of his life so please cut him some slack as English isn’t his first language.
Calm down; Bjorn is thousands of miles from home, without his gear and this was impromptu. He has dozens of videos on his YouTube channel, if you’d like to see what his videos look like when he has time to prepare & edit.
I only feel two words for you.. F U.
Ahh. Now i may continue the day.
Something tells me that the ‘real’ update is yet to come. Front and hepa filters are esentially miniscule changes.
Many people are waiting for 100kW battery option, ventilated (M X) seats option, support for faster superchargers (135kW SC / 150kW CCS), and fixing all the minor niggles.
These include (but really must change given that this is a premium class car): adjustable seatbelts, side pockets, more colours both externally and internally, better adjustable seats (like in M X).
I do like to new snout, but: what was Tesla thinking with this black opening behind the logo? This will just gather dirt and not clean very well, given that it’s behind the logo and a cavity that you cannot reach into. It will collect all kinds of insects, road dust etc. Not a particularly clever solution, methinks…
Man I hope they ask you if you want a front license plate bracket or not when you order. It’s not required in all US states and usually the dealer will just mount a bracket if you need one (or more specifically want one) on delivery. Otherwise, that will be quite unsightly.
