Tesla Model 3: people are already lining up and setting up tents in front of stores around the world

Andreas Stephens from Sydney, Australia was the first person reported in line to reserve the Tesla Model 3 in store a whole 2 days before the doors open, but now that we are about 24 hours away from Tesla accepting reservations for its $35,000 long-range vehicle, we are starting to get reports of lines and tents at Tesla stores around the world.

Tesla will take reservations when the stores open during local business hours – you can check your local store business hours here. Online reservations will start at 8:30pm (3:30am UTC) at the same time that the livestream of the event will start.

A $1,000 deposit is required in the US and Tesla published the list of currency amount per country. Surprisingly, it requires only a $1,000 CAD deposit in Canada despite the very weak Canadian dollar, which could encourage people to go ahead and place a deposit especially since it’s refundable.

It seems to already have an effect as we see two tents already set up in front of the Tesla Montreal store and a line in front of the Vancouver store:

Update: The owner of the awesome Model 3 custom tent in Montreal, Ian Pavelko, reached out to us and you can follow his Twitter feed for updates:

Some people have also been spotted in Melbourne:

And someone also set up a tent at the Tesla Boston store:

Tesla is now also sharing a few pictures of early adopters waiting at its stores:

Fort Worth, TX

And Toronto (appropriately reading Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future):

A queue is starting at Tesla’s Rocklin store in California:

The Tesla Model 3 will be unveiled at Tesla’s Design Studio in Hawthorne, California, on March 31st at 8:30pm Pacific. If you want to reserve the vehicle, Tesla revealed all the reservation process details per region and here’s everything we know about the vehicle.

I wonder who’s more stressed out right now, Musk or Barra?

The countdown to 3Day has begun, the beginning of the end of the ICE age.

People are funny i am not going to line up to be 100000 in line since the first chunk of orders will be going to staff and previous owners. I will go in at lunch or after work about be 101000 get the car two days later.

So what I wish was crystal clear is
can we pay our deposit tomorrow morning ‘when the store opens at 10am’ (in los angles)
or do they not take our order until 8:30pm when it’s revealed?

Not sure why but Houston has just 10 folks going to the event so far.

  6. Scott Lawrence Lawson - 7 years ago

Saw three people in line today at the Pasadena, CA store at 5:50 PM local time.

Love the Company, really love owning the stock for 4-5 years, love the cars so far- but very arrogant position to make people put money down on a car without even a picture to see. Musk could put a hamburger on wheels out there and people would line up………………….

Wow, people are retarded. They’d rather wait two days outside beforehand than order it later and get the car two days after everyone else?

2 days? At this rate, they will probably sellout the first year of production from in-store reservations.

      • freeform1999 - 7 years ago

4-500 were in line at Burbank/Los Angles store
