Tesla partners with SunEdison to bring the Powerwall to Australia by the end of the year

Last week we wrote about Tesla installing Powerwalls for “pilot customers”  and revealing the first markets in which the company plans on deploying its new energy storage products. Now we learn that Tesla partnered up with SunEdison to bring the Powerwall in Australia by November.

As we confirmed last week, only the 7 kWh daily cycling version of the Powerwall will be available, while the 10 kWh optimized for backup power will be made available in “early 2016”.

The company is committing to a more aggressive market introduction in Australia due to the country’s high electricity rates, which are among the highest for developed countries.

The price of the Powerwall in Australia is still unknown, but interested home owners can signup through SunEdison Australia’s Energy Matters to get the information as soon as it is released.

SunEdison Australia says it will announce a competition to celebrate the arrival of Tesla Powerwall. The “major prize” of the competition being one of the home energy storage systems.
