Thats definitely the future, and it will become reality sooner than we might expect. You won´t need to own a car but you can.. without needing a driving licence. It´s the next step in public transport and gives the benefit of both worlds (mass- and individual transport) in urban regions. You will be able to drive directly to your destination, leaving the car, and it will park itself somewehre, recharching and comes back to pick you up, when you want to travel back home. The cars can be part of a fleet of a public transport company, a car sharing company or your personal property. They just log in in a general traffic guidance system, which steers the car in the best/fastest/safest computed route to your destination.
