We got a look at a new blue Tesla Model 3 release candidate testing in the wild last weekend. It’s one of the only two release candidates that have been spotted in public so far.
Today, we get new pictures of the prototype for a better look at the Model 3.
Considering we have relatively little footage of the Model 3 release candidates so far, it’s interesting how strangely different they can look when just having the chance to look at them from a different angle.
We couldn’t get a great view of the blue prototype since it was being tested on the highway when spotted this weekend in a video, but these new pictures give us a great new angle.
We couldn’t trace back the pictures to the original source, but they were posted to Imgur and we added the blur on the faces of the Tesla engineers just for privacy (picture credit Anton Bolotov):
The rear windows appears to only go halfway down, which is not exactly uncommon.
It also appears that there are wires hanging from the fascia of the vehicle.
The front-end of the same vehicle was captured on camera by someone at the Tesla Show podcast last week and it showed a sensor or LED light where the wires are hanging on the most recent sighting:
As we like to highlight with those sightings, the Model 3 release candidates are being tested with different vehicles at different stages of readiness and therefore, we need to be careful before assuming that certain features will be in the production version, which is still expected to be released in July.
For example, the headlights are different in each of the two prototypes seen so far.
We should get a better idea of the final features of the vehicle as Tesla expands its test program as it gets closer to production. It’s likely going to be a long ~3 months for the ~400,000 people who placed a reservation for the Model 3, but every day we seem to get a better idea of the final design features of the all-electric sedan.
